Creative EMDR Consultation Facilitation Lab

Develop your own thoughtful, accessible consultation style through a small-cohort experience in creative case conceptualization, facilitation and consultant development.

For EMDRIA Approved Consultants-in-Training (CIT) and EMDRIA Approved Consultants who want to build a consultation format that feels thoughtful, usable, and genuinely their own.

You do not need another generic training about “running a group.” You need space to see a model, try on the structure, ask the questions that actually come up, and develop a consultation format you can explain and lead with clarity.

The Creative EMDR Consultation Facilitation Lab is a seven-session, six-month founding cohort limited to four consultants. for consultants who want to use simple visual and expressive case-thinking tools without turning consultation into therapy, an art workshop, or a separate EMDR protocol.

Ready to get started?

This is the first step in the cohort process. Use it to share your professional role, time zone, facilitation goals, and current CIT-consultant relationship.

Seeking an EMDRIA approved consultant for your CIT/ approved consultant journey?

The Core Idea: Consultation can be structured without becoming rigid.

Some consultants want to make their groups more visual, more accessible, or more engaging. They may want a way to help consultees see a case from a different angle, stay connected to a focused clinical question, and leave with a useful next step.

The challenge is doing that without drifting away from the EMDR model, losing the case, overwhelming participants, or making the group feel like personal process.

This Lab teaches one practical answer: use a brief case artifact as a consultation tool. A rough map, a list, a simple symbol, a line, a color choice, or a short sorting activity can help a consultee organize information and notice patterns. The artifact is not the point. The clinical question is. A Case Canvas activity might map where processing keeps looping, competing pulls around moving forward, the relationship between a target and protective responses, or simply the clinical question the consultee is trying to answer.

The expressive case-artifact format is a consultation tool. It is not a separate EMDR protocol, a personal-process group, or an automatic certification-credit pathway

Why I Built This

My own consultation groups increasingly started using simple expressive and parts-informed ways of helping clinicians show me what was happening in a case, especially when the problem was difficult to explain verbally. Over time, I became much more intentional about keeping those activities anchored to an actual EMDR consultation question.

The Case Canvas℠ grew out of that work. It brings together my experience as an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, Registered Expressive Arts Therapist and supervisor, parts-informed clinician, and someone who genuinely loves figuring out how to make consultation more usable for different kinds of brains.

What You Will Learn

Build a consultation experience that has a clear beginning, middle, and next step.

Across seven meetings, you will learn how to:

•Integrate expressive and parts-informed approaches with attention to dissociation, identity, neurodivergence, consent, and EMDR fidelity.

•Design a simple creative or visual prompt that stays tied to a real EMDR consultation question.

•Explain the clinical purpose of an activity in plain, non-hyped language.

•Move from prompt to discussion to case application without losing the group’s focus.

•Support different communication, learning, sensory, and participation needs.

•Use parts-informed language carefully, without imposing a framework or inviting personal process.

•Manage timing, uneven participation, stuck moments, telehealth logistics, and complex case material.

•Create a clear participant agreement, de-identification process, and documentation boundary.

•Develop your own facilitation blueprint rather than copying someone else’s group.

Meeting 1: Begin with the Foundation

90-Minute learning session

Start with a shared introduction to simple expressive case-thinking tools, careful parts-informed language, accessibility, consent, and pacing in EMDR consultation. Participants will see how a brief visual or creative prompt can support a focused consultation question without becoming personal process, expressive arts therapy, or a separate EMDR protocol.

Meetings 2-6: The Lab Rhythm

Every meeting combines practical teaching with focused case-lab time.

Each 90-minute meeting has two distinct parts.

Part One: Facilitator Development

30 minutes

You will learn one focused principle through a short demonstration, activity deconstruction, facilitator script, or design decision. This portion is specialty education. It is not presented as consultation-of-consultation.

Part Two: Facilitation Case Lab

60 minutes

Each participant brings one concise, de-identified question about their actual consultation work or consultation format.

The group works through focused rounds of case context, structured peer observation, consultation feedback, and one next decision.

You will leave each meeting with something concrete to test, revise, gather, or clarify.

Meeting 7: Creating your Consultation Group Blueprint

60-Minute learning session + 30-Minute discussion

Solidify what you've learned over the course of the meetings and leave with a clear plan for implementing creative consultation routes in your EMDR consultation groups.

Who This Is For

Two kinds of consultants. One shared learning goal.

EMDRIA Approved Consultants

You already have the credential. What you may want now is a better facilitation system, a more engaging way to help consultees think through cases, and space to develop a group format that fits your style and population.

You are not here for CIT hours. You are here for specialty development, live modeling, usable materials, peer learning, and guided work on your own consultation format.

Everyone is a participant and peer in this Lab. The Program Lead holds the facilitator and consultation role.

EMDR Consultants-in-Training

You are beginning to become the kind of consultant you want to be. You may have active consultees, a near-term consultation setting, or a growing desire to offer something more structured and accessible than a standard discussion group.

The Lab gives you a place to learn the design and facilitation side of consultation, receive feedback about your real consultation work, and see a case-focused group structure modeled live.

CIT participation note: The program includes scheduled facilitation case-lab segments led by an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. For a CIT, a segment may be documented as consultation-of-consultation only when the CIT brings and actively discusses actual EMDR consultation work with real consultees, participates in the structured process, and meets the written agreement and current EMDRIA requirements. Specialty education, observation, participatory field experiences, and materials access are not automatic credentialing credit.

Important if you are seeking Sam as your primary CIT consultant

If you are hoping to work with Sam as your primary CIT consultant, you will need to schedule and complete an individual CIT consultation before a final cohort admission decision if you have not worked together individually during the past three months, or if your prior work together focused on certification and has not yet included a conversation about your CIT goals and path. This meeting gives you both space to assess fit, clarify expectations, and decide whether the cohort is the right next step. Completing the meeting does not guarantee cohort admission or establish a primary CIT consultant relationship.

What the Planned Cohort Will Include

A small, high-touch development experience.

• Seven live 90-minute cohort sessions: one Foundations learning session + five Facilitation Lab meetings, and a last session focused on reviewing and completing your blueprint.

•Including up to 5 hours of consultation-of-consultation that may be eligible for CIT credit.

•One designated participatory group experience (you will attend one of my existing expressive arts and parts work focused EMDR consultation groups as a participant).

•A curated Facilitation Lab Starter Library of selected prompts, templates, preparation tools, and examples.

•Structured feedback during scheduled meetings.

•A small cohort with a four-person cap.

•A personal facilitation blueprint developed over the course of the Lab and reviewed at the end of the program.

The Starter Library is provided under a limited professional-use permission. It is not a master library, a certification package, or permission to resell, teach, or distribute the materials as your own program.

Any materials provided that are eligible for distribution in your own program will be clearly identified.

What This Is Not

Clear boundaries make this work better.

This is not:

•A personal-process group or expressive arts therapy group.

•A separate EMDR protocol.

•A generic course.

•Unlimited access to the instructor.

•An opportunity to earn continuing-education credits.

•Individual supervision, legal advice, credential application review, or an ongoing consulting relationship.

•A guaranteed number of CIT consultation-of-consultation hours.

•An expressive arts therapy credential or authorization to practice outside your scope.

•Permission to duplicate, resell, teach, certify, or repackage the Lab materials or structure.

The expressive case-artifact format is a tool for better consultation thinking. It works because it is simple, contained, and always brought back to the active case question.

Price

Investment: $1,195

The investment includes seven live 90-minute cohort sessions (one Foundations session + five Facilitation Labs), one designated model-group experience, the curated Starter Library, and structured feedback during scheduled meetings.

The investment does not include individual consultation, individual review or feedback outside scheduled meetings, or continuing-education credit.

The interest and fit form is the first step if you want to be considered for the founding cohort.

Completing it does not reserve a seat, create a payment obligation, or guarantee admission. It gives me the information I need to send the application to people whose role, goals, schedule, and consultation context fit the cohort.

New to parts work or expressive arts? You are welcome here.

  • You do not need formal prior training in either. The Lab uses broad, non-proprietary parts language and simple expressive tools such as color, shape, symbol, movement, imagery, and words. Parts language is an optional lens, and artistic skill is absolutely not expected.

  • This program does not provide expressive arts therapy or parts-work certification, and participants remain responsible for practicing within their own scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this only for CITs?

No. The Lab is intentionally designed for both EMDR Consultants-in-Training and EMDRIA Approved Consultants. Both may complete the interest and fit form.

Can I apply now?

The interest and fit form comes first. Complete it to share your role, time zone, availability, facilitation goals, and CIT-consultant relationship. I will review this information before sending the full application. Completing the form does not reserve a seat or create any obligation.

Complete the interest form now

Will I receive CIT consultation-of-consultation hours?

Potentially. Five Facilitation Lab meetings each include a designated 60-minute consultation-of-consultation segment, creating up to 5 potentially eligible hours. For a segment to be documented, you must bring and actively discuss actual EMDR consultation work with real consultees, participate in the structured process, meet the written agreement, and satisfy current EMDRIA requirements. No number of hours is guaranteed in advance.

What if I hope to use Sam as my primary CIT consultant?

If you have not worked with Sam individually during the past three months, or if your prior work together focused on certification and has not yet included a conversation about your CIT goals and path, you will need to schedule and complete an individual CIT consultation before a final cohort admission decision. This meeting helps clarify fit and expectations. It does not guarantee cohort admission or establish a primary CIT consultant relationship.

Do I need to be “good at art”?

No. The visual and expressive activities are deliberately simple. You may use a list, rough map, line, symbol, color, words, or another format that helps you think. Artistic skill is not evaluated.

Do I need prior parts-work or expressive arts therapy training?

No. You do not need formal prior training in parts work or expressive arts therapy to participate. The approach uses broad, non-proprietary language and offers enough orientation to use the prompt in relation to your external, de-identified EMDR case. However, the program doesn't guarantee competence, and additional training may be needed for you to feel comfortable engaging in expressive arts and parts work approaches. It is your responsibility to practice within your scope.

Is this expressive arts therapy training?

No. The Case Canvas℠ Facilitation Lab teaches the Case Canvas℠ Creative Case Consultation method, a bounded way to use simple expressive case artifacts in professional consultation. It does not train or credential you as an expressive arts therapist.

Will I get all of your activities and materials?

You will receive a curated Starter Library of the materials named for this Lab. The full library, editable source files, and permission to teach or resell materials are not included.

Can I email you my group plan or worksheets for feedback?

No. Email is for scheduling, access, technical issues, and brief administrative questions. Bring focused questions or a short excerpt to a scheduled Lab meeting. Individual review is outside the Lab scope unless separately offered and purchased.

What if I miss a meeting?

You will receive the standard materials provided to the cohort, but there are no private recaps, repeat teaching sessions, make-ups, or replacement group experiences. Missed time cannot be documented.

Can I join from outside the United States?

You may complete the interest and fit form if the meeting time is likely to work for you and you meet your local professional requirements. You remain responsible for your own licensing, privacy, ethical, and scope-of-practice obligations.
